[origin: WO2005037586A1] The invention relates to a covering method, particularly for covering semifinished vehicle sunshades, comprising the following steps: a covering material (2) is placed in a planar manner on a basic element (1) that is to be covered; the covering material (2) is cut outside said basic element (1) along the outer circumference (1.1) of the basic element (1) at a predefined distance (d1) from the outer circumference (1.1) thereof; the part (2.1) of the covering material (2), which protrudes from the outer circumference (1.1) of the basic element (1), is bent across the outer circumference (1.1) of the basic element (1) and is glued. The inventive covering method and the inventive covering device are characterized in that the covering material (2) is cut using a cutting knife (3) which extends along the entire circumference (1.1) of the basic element (1) and is disposed outside thereof at a given distance (d1) from the outer circumference (1.1) of the basic element (1). All steps of the inventive method are carried out with the aid of a single covering device.
