Abstract (en)
The mattress (11, 22) is associated with locally hardened (in the sense of firmer) or reinforced regions, especially in the base springing (12) underneath the mattress. This effect is achieved by local, selective hardening of plastic. The regions are formed by or in plastic sheet (15), elastomer sheet or foamed plastic sheet. The mattress or the base springing, include support components associated with selectively-hardened regions. Such regions are carried on the support components : An independent claim is included for the corresponding method of manufacture.
