[origin: EP1669678A1] A controlling method for safely operating a pyrolysis mode of an electric oven for cleaning the interior of the oven cavity is provided. The controlling method determines if a checking portion has been manipulated by a user (e.g. if support racks have been removed from the oven cavity from the user in order to prevent them from being damaged during pyrolyse operation) when the pyrolysis mode is selected. It displays a message to manipulate the checking portion if the checking portion has not been removed, and conducts a normal pyrolysis mode if the user has removed the checking portion.
