Abstract (en)
A setting unit limits current of high pressure gas discharge lamp. A lamp state detector evaluates running voltage of high pressure gas discharge lamp or its proportional value at start and end of time window, to derive a state variable which is suitable for distinguishing between cold and hot discharge lamps. A controller inputs limit current value to setting unit as function of the state variable. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling start-up of high-pressure discharge lamps.
