Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005014958A1] The invention relates to a lock (10) comprising a key-operated lock cylinder (12) having a cam (14), an element (16) carrying out a translatory motion, and a transmission device (18) for transmitting the motion of the cam (14) onto the element (16) in order to bring the element into the closed position or the open position by means of a device. The transmission device (18) comprises a first toothed wheel (20) that is arranged so as to be rotatable about the lock cylinder (12) and together with the cam (14). The aim of the invention is to improve a lock of the above-mentioned kind in such a manner that it allows for a reliable operation with simple technical means, that has small dimensions and that can be produced at low costs. For this purpose, the first toothed wheel (20) is recessed. Said recess receives the cam (14) and is dimensioned so as to allow for the lock cylinder (12) to be put through during assembly. The transmission device (18) comprises at least one additional toothed wheel (22) that intermeshes with the first toothed wheel (20) and is disposed on at least one first shaft (24) whose axis (W) extends at an angle to the lock cylinder axis. The device translates the rotational motion of the first shaft (24) into a translatory motion of the element (16).
