Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005034784A2] The invention relates to an input device (50) for activating and controlling functions of at least one device (10, 11, 12, 16) of a dental treatment/work station. This input device (50) comprises: a first input element (52) for generating navigation information for controlling a pointer on a user interface, which is depicted on a display (13) of the dental treatment station; at least one second input element (55) for generating control information, with which functions of the devices (10, 11, 12, 16) can be selected and/or activated independent of the navigation information generated by the first input element (52), and; transmission means (51) for wirelessly transmitting the navigation and control information, which is generated with the aid of the first and second input elements (52, 55), to the devices (10, 11, 12, 16) or to a functional unit (41) connected upstream from said devices (10, 11, 12, 16). The input device is designed in such a manner that the control information generated by the second input element can, independent of a unit, e.g. a central server, that manages the user interface, be used for controlling the device.
