[origin: WO2005031771A1] The invention relates to an ignition coil (10) for a spark ignition engine comprising a coil core (12) in which a primary magnetic field (Hp) is inducible by means of a primary substentially reel-shaped current-carrying winding (14). The inventive ignition coil (10) comprises a secondary substentially reel-shaped winding (16) in which a power field exciting at least one spark plug (18) can be produced by said primary magnetic field (Hp). A premagnetizing device acts on the coil core (12) in order to generate a bias magnetic field (Hp) which is opposite to the primary magnetic field (Hp). According to said invention, the premagnetizing device is provided with a bias magnetising substentially reel-shaped current-carrying winding (20).
