[origin: WO2005035261A1] The invention relates to a security document, especially a bank note (10), comprising a security document substrate (12) and at least one marking characteristic for recognising authenticity and at least two different marking characteristics which are used to examine the security document. According to the invention, a first (16) and a second marking characteristic (14) are provided on and/or in the security document substrate (12) in the form of codes which are independent from each other, said substrate at least partially reproducing the contents, e.g. declaration of value, currency etc.
