Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005044667A1] The invention relates to a system for evacuating a container (1) which can be closed by means of a lid (3) and whose container space (33) is used for storing food. Said system comprises a vacuum pump (64), the lid (3), and the container (1) that can be closed by means of the lid (3). A valve (35) is embodied along a flow duct (18; 89) that extends from the exterior to the interior on the lid (3) or the container (1). Said valve (35) seals the closed container (1) in a pressure-tight manner towards the atmosphere once the container space (33) has been evacuated by the vacuum pump (64). A control valve (58) is configured within the suction duct (63) on the vacuum pump (64). Said control valve (58) is brought into the open position thereof by a stop surface (81) that is located on the container (1) or the lid (3) when the control valve (58) is coupled to the flow duct (18; 89) embodied in the lid (3) or container (1) such that the suction duct (63) in the vacuum pump (64) is unblocked. This ensures that only vacuum pumps generating adequate pressures for the containers can be placed on the valve arrangement.
