Abstract (en)

The fibrous web (1) passes through a coating unit (2, 3) to the drying unit (4). Following drying, the web is passed through two nips formed by cylindrical pressure rollers (5, 6) and glazing rollers (7, 8) with flexible roller casings which form elongated glazing nips. The web is heated on one or both sides in the glazing nips. It is moistened on at least one side before a nip. In the subsequent nip, the heated side of the web is moistened. The moistening unit (10, 11) applies preferably 1 g/m 2>at most, to the web. Drying takes place between coating and glazing. Before coating, the web is passed through at least one glazing nip formed by two glazing rollers (13) profiled transversely with respect to the direction of motion (12) under mechanical pressure. The coating medium contains organic and/or inorganic coating pigments. The coating resists temperatures of preferably at least 250[deg]C, reached during application. An independent claim is included for the corresponding method.
