Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005021938A1] The invention relates to a device for bleeding a crank housing of an internal combustion engine comprising a head-on case (9) for a chain (10) that drivingly connects the crankshaft and the camshaft, said chain case (9) being placed on a front wall (8) of the crank housing. The inventive device encompasses a settling chamber (1), at the inlet of which a preliminary oil separator (4) is disposed, and a cyclone (6) that is used as the principal oil separator and is mounted downstream of the settling chamber (1). The settling chamber (1) and the cyclone (6) are accommodated in the chain case (9) while the front wall (8) of the crank housing, which is located next to the chain case (9), is provided with an inlet port (3) for admitting oil-laden gas from the crank housing into the settling chamber (1) as well as recirculation ports (16) for separated oil.
