[origin: EP1676655A1] The mechanism to advance longitudinal material through workstations, e.g. wires or profiles to be shaped by bending or stamping, has at least one clamp with two adjustable clamping pads (20,22) to be opened and closed to hold the material or allow it to move through. At least one clamping pad is pliable, as a longitudinal component, with at least one opening (92a,92b) orthogonal to the longitudinal line (20c) of the clamping pad. The second end (20b) of the clamping pad (20) has a truncated cone clamping surface (94), of hard metal or ceramic, fastened by a screw to a shaft section (92).
