Abstract (en)
[origin: DE10350623B3] Each extraction device has a distance sensor (8a,8b) providing a drive start signal in response to the pressure of the mail stack, a flexible elongate restraint element (19) extending from the support element and pressed against the conveyor belts of both the transport section and the separation region. The distance (12a) of the support element from the further conveyor belt of the transport section is greater than the maximum mail item length. The mail item separation device has an input region (1) in which a mail stack (2) is fed to a support element (4) with opposing end plates (5,5a) for supporting the mail stack, a transport section (12) having at least 2 pivoted extraction devices (7a,7b) with driven conveyor belts and at least one further conveyor belt (13) and at least one separation region (14), having a driven conveyor belt operated at a higher transport rate than the latter conveyor belt.
