[origin: WO2005032989A1] The invention relates to a cylinder pertaining to a folder, said cylinder comprising a cylinder body, at least one gripper that can be displaced between a position sunk into the cylinder body, an extended position, and a clamping position wherein a tip of the gripper presses flat material from the outside against a surface section of the cylinder body. The inventive cylinder has an axis about which the gripper pivots between the sunken position and the extended position. An abutment for cutting the flat material to be gripped by the gripper is associated with the cylinder body, and the gripper is arranged upstream of the abutment associated therewith in relation to the rotational direction of the gripper cylinder. The inventive cylinder also has another axis about which the gripper moves in the peripheral direction of the cylinder. Both axes are arranged in such a way that they are fixed in relation to the cylinder.
