Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005049231A2] The invention relates to a method and a device for separating foreign admixtures from a product flow that is particularly composed of steam-peeled or abrasively peeled potatoes or other field crops. The aim of the invention is to create a device which allows foreign admixtures to be separated effectively and with comparatively little effort while ensuring high product throughputs. Said aim is achieved by first charging the product flow (K) comprising admixtures in a loosened manner and in a single layer onto a first moving belt conveyor (B1) while mounting a second belt conveyor (B2) downstream of the first belt conveyor (B1) at the discharge end (B18), the direction of travel of the second belt conveyor (B2) being defined substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of the first belt conveyor (B1). The speed of travel of the second belt conveyor (B2) is greater than the speed of travel of the first belt conveyor (B1) while the width (bB1) of the first belt conveyor (B1) is smaller than the width (bB2) of the second belt conveyor (B2), and at least the second belt conveyor (B2) is provided with a certain minimum moisture.
