Abstract (en)
The process for making an i.c. engine block from a light alloy such as aluminium alloy consists of forming a mould cavity (10) with at least one sleeve (7) positioned in it to form an engine cylinder and for filling the cavity, the molten alloy being fed into the cavity through both the interior and exterior of the sleeve. The mould cavity is filled under pressure, with the molten alloy fed into it through the surface that corresponds to the base of the engine block, and with the sleeve held by an inner support (9) that leaves at least one passage for pouring the alloy that forms the upper part of the block.
