The method for the operating of a stand-alone, especially portable picture and/or sound reproduction device (MP3) as an external device in a music system (M), entails making available sound data (d) in the external device, transmitting the sound data via an interface (B) to the music system, and constructing and controlling the music system to process and/or reproduce the sound data. The controlling of the external device is carried out via the music system. Control signals (s*) from the music system for the controlling of a functionality of the external device are transmitted to this external device via the interface or an additional interface. Independent claims are included for the following: (A) an integrated consumer picture and/or sound circuit (IC) for a music system in which the interface (USB,B) in addition to the output of control signal to control a functionality of the external device is constructed and/or operated as a bi-directional interface; and (B) a music system with the aforesaid bi-directional interface.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer eigenständigen portablen Bild- und/oder Ton-Wiedergabeeinrichtung (MP3) als einer externen Einrichtung (MP3) an einer Musikanlage (M), bei dem in der externen Einrichtung (MP3) Tondaten (d) bereitgestellt sind, die externe Einrichtung (MP3) steuerbar ist, die Tondaten (d) über eine Schnittstelle (B) an die Musikanlage (M) zu übertragen, und die Musikanlage (M) ausgebildet und gesteuert ist, die Tondaten (d) zu verarbeiten und/oder wiederzugeben, wobei die Steuerung der externen Einrichtung (MP3) über die Musikanlage durchgeführt wird. Entsprechend bezieht sich die Erfindung auch auf eine Musikanlage bzw. auf eine integrierte Consumer-Bild- und/oder Ton-Schaltung (IC) für eine solche Musikanlage zum Steuern einer eigenständigen externen Ton-Wiedergabeeinrichtung (MP3) mittels Steuersignalen aus der Musikanlage bzw. aus der Consumer-Bild- und/oder Ton-Schaltung.
