Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005048461A2] The invention relates to a holding system for mobile telephony terminals, said system enabling mobile telephony appliances to be operated in a motor vehicle. The invention also relates to a holding element (121) for one such holding system. Said holding system consists of a base (122) that can be fixed in the motor vehicle, and a holding element (121) for temporarily receiving a mobile telephony terminal (1). Said holding element comprises means for temporarily and mechanically coupling the base and the mobile telephony terminal to the holding element. The holding element (121) also comprises an electrical connection element (63) that co-operates with an electrical connection element (71) arranged in the base in order to electrically connect the holding element to the base. The holding element (121) is provided with a GPS receiver (64) which converts a supplied GPS signal (92) into position data. The inventive holding system comprises electrical connection means (65) for transmitting the position data from the GPS receiver (64) to the mobile telephony terminal (1).
