[origin: EP1683900A1] Producing ribbed sections on tubular knitwear in a flat knitting machine comprises a narrowing technique in which the stitches of a left stitch group are looped onto needles immediately following an innerlying adjacent right stitch group and then to the stitches of the innerlying adjacent right stitch group while the outerlying adjacent right stitch group is also looped inwards onto a corresponding number of needles, rows of stitches are then knitted and the stitches of the outerlying right stitch group are looped onto the needles of the innerlying right stitch group so that the knitwear is narrowed by one rib on the left and right side. An independent claim is also included for knitwear produced as above.
