[origin: EP1683925A1] Heat insulating element comprises a base component (12) lying next to a window frame (8) inserted into a window opening (6) or a door frame inserted into a door opening, a plate-like heat insulating component (14) and a cleaning strip (16) fixed to the base component and sitting on the transition between the window frame or door frame and the base component in the assembled state. Preferred Features: The base component has a channel recess on its rear side which is open to the gap between the window frame or door frame and a soffit. Connecting channels (30) are arranged along the base component between a front surface of the base component and the inside of the channel recess.
