Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005049226A1] The method and device relate to a method and device for continuous surface treatment of an elongate filiform object by means of plasma created by an electric discharge at ambient pressure. The device (100) comprises a tubular body (2) wherein a channel, which is at least partially open at the two extremities thereof, allowing said elongate object (A) to pass according to an axis of travel which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the channel (1), is created. Said device also comprises means (3) for generating a neutral plasma flow at a given angle in relation to the longitudinal axis in at least one part (10) of the body (2), and means for confining the plasma flow in said part (10), at least while the elongate object crosses through said part of the body of the channel. The device also makes it possible to vary the effect of treatment by adding the requisite additives to the plasma and/or by direct addition to a treatment area and by using the different plasma areas containing particles having a different level of energy.
