[origin: EP1686231A1] Device for preventing damage to a blind or shutter comprises a coupling (17) having a sleeve (19) enclosing a lifting shaft. The sleeve is connected to a lifting wheel (5) for the blind or shutter and a coupling unit (23) connected to the lifting shaft is inserted into the sleeve. The coupling unit produces a connection between the lifting shaft and the lifting wheel when the scallop is lowered and raised and the connection is broken when a force acts against the rotary movement of the lifting wheel. The coupling unit axially moves on the lifting shaft using a helical element (31). Preferred Features: The coupling unit comprises a peripheral screw path which interacts between the threads of the helical element.
