[origin: WO2005052239A1] The invention relates to a method for fixing a connecting or holding thread to a workpiece by means of a single-thread chain stitch sewing machine (stitch-type 101), wherein first, a fixing seam is produced, and a needle (2) is stopped whereas the needle loop (4) is still suspended on a gripper (1), the segment (6) of the needle loop (4) leading from shuttle to the needle is held between the needle (2) and the workpiece, and the thread is drawn from a thread stock by the needle (2) in such a way that a thread loop (12) corresponding to the length of the connecting or holding thread is formed before being cut and, afterwards the part (14) of the thread loop (12) leading to the needle loop (4) penetrates through the last stab hole (8) of the workpiece and through the end loop of the fixing seem formed thereon before being drawn towards the lower face of the workpiece.
