[origin: EP1690647A2] The compressed air hammer (1) with recoil damping, especially for a robot riveter working vehicle bodywork sheets, has a common cylinder (8) for the striking piston (9) and the equalizing piston (10). The striking piston has a piston rod (11) working with the snap die and the cylinder has a fixed piston rod (12) for the sliding equalizing piston, with the feed channel (13) for the compressed air (14). The end (15) at the piston side extends into the zone between the two pistons.
