Abstract (en)
The item of laundry (70) is drawn fully onto the support surface and held there. The location of its corner (71) is sensed (32) optically, the determination being made across the direction of laying. A corner gripping unit (24) moves transversely to the direction of laying, to approach the corner position determined. It then grips (25, 26) the item of laundry. The corner position is found by interpolation between measured edge positions, and/or by line scanning and determining the rearmost edge point. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
