[origin: WO2005057019A1] A cooling fluid (21) is applied to the surfaces of the rotating compressor rotor (1), which come into contact with the gaseous medium for compression. The cooling fluid at least partly vaporises (23) as a result of the high temperature of the compressor rotor. The temperature of the cooling fluid (22) sinks and the cooled fluid thus exerts a cooling effect on the compressor rotor. The heat transfer coefficient alpha between the compressor rotor and the flow can be substantially increased by means of the addition of a small amount of fluid.
