[origin: WO2004076919A1] The invention relates to the switching on of electric tree lights. The electric tree candles are fastened to a tree section by means of a base clamp. Each tree candle comprises a local power supply unit and a small electronic module for switching the power on and off in a remote-controlled manner. A remote signal source that is embodied as an AC voltage source is used for simultaneously remote controlling the electronic modules. The electrical impedance of the tree is used as a transmission medium for the remote control, wherefore the signal output of the AC voltage source is connected to the tree by making single-pole galvanic contact while the base clamp on the tree section of the illuminating means is connected to the signal input of the respective electronic module by making single-pole galvanic contact. The circuit ground of the AC voltage source is connected to the earth potential via a coupling capacitor while the circuit ground of the electronic module remains insulated from the surroundings. The tree lights can be remote-controlled without sensors by making use of the natural conductivity of the tree.
