Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005054962A1] The invention relates to a moon phase indicator mechanism which is intended for a time piece. The inventive mechanism comprises: two, and only two, disks, namely a lower disk (11) having a colour that is representative of the moon and an upper disk (12) having a colour representative of darkness; and control means (14, 17, 20, 23, 26) which are driven by the movement of the piece in order cyclically to move at least one of the aforementioned two disks at each lunation such that the initially-fully-uncovered lower disk (11) is successively and progressively covered by the upper disk (12) and, subsequently, when fully covered, is progressively uncovered until it is fully uncovered once again. The above-mentioned control means are arranged such that (i) at the end of the lunation, the two disks (11, 12) are disposed, by means of a rapid retrograde motion, in the position that they occupied at the beginning of the cycle and (ii) the disks are moved in the opposite direction in an essentially-symmetrical manner.
