[origin: WO2005063081A1] The invention relates to an inclination adjustment device (4), for pieces of furniture, comprising an adjustable furniture component with an inclination adjustable about a horizontal joint axis, in particular, for working tables (1) having a working surface (2) with adjustable inclination, said device being provided for supporting the component in any inclined position and comprising an oblong guide piece (7), for fixing to the furniture frame (5), and an oblong support piece (8), running telescopically in the guide piece (7), projecting from the guide piece (7), to support the furniture component with adjustable inclination and comprising a braking device (27) which is ineffective or essentially ineffective on withdrawing the support piece (8) and which, on an opposing insertion of the support piece (8) into the guide piece (7), brakes the movement of the support piece (8). The braking device (27) may be operated by an operating device (17) which may itself be operated by a user. Furthermore, the braking effect of the braking device (27) is adjustable.
