Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005064470A2] The invention relates to a method and device (40) for producing and outputting diagnosis data from a printer or copier. A first control unit acquires first diagnosis data from pre-adjusted first diagnosis events in a first data format. A second control unit (14) acquires second diagnosis data from pre-adjusted second diagnosis events in a second data format. A diagnosis data stream (42) is produced, using the first diagnosis data and second diagnosis data, and fed to an evaluation unit (26) which is used to evaluate what is indicated in the first and second diagnosis events. A first evaluation instruction (44b) is used to process the first diagnosis data contained in the data stream (42) and a second evaluation instruction (44c) is used to process the second diagnosis data contained in the data stream (42)..
