Machining device comprises a machining body (14) having externally acting magnets for adhering magnetic or magnetically abrasive machining powder to a peripheral surface of the body and a workpiece holder positioned relative to the machining body and driven in an advancing or rotating position via corresponding positioning units and drives and directly connected to the bearing of the machining body. Preferred Features: The machining body is formed as a magnetic head in which the magnets for holding the machining powder are formed by a number of permanent magnets.
