[origin: WO2005080095A2] The invention relates to a device and a method for the automatic sealing of envelopes. Said device comprises a transport unit (1) for displacing the envelopes (2) in a transport direction and a unit (5) for the automatic folding and sealing of an envelope flap (6). To facilitate a precise, reliable sealing, even of tightly packed envelopes in a continuous operation, the unit (5) for the automatic folding and sealing of the envelope flap (6) has several rotational bodies (8) that can be rotated in the transport direction of the envelopes (2) and displaced transversally to the transport direction of the envelope (2) by means of a drive (21).
