Abstract (en)
In a sewing or embroidering machine having holes (19) penetrating at least one of the flanges (21, 22) of the lower thread bobbin (37), with a light source (35) and a receiver (39) for the beam from the source located axially before or after the bobbin and a calculating and control unit provided for processing the received signal, the ends of the holes (19) lying externally relative to the axis of rotation (A) of the bobbin have a different spacing from the axis. A sewing or embroidering machine has a lower thread bobbin (17) (for receiving a lower thread supply (37)), rotatably mounted in a motor-driven gripper and comprising annular flanges (21, 22) at the end of a mandrel, with at least one (21) of the flanges penetrated by holes (19). A light source (35) and a receiver (39) for the light beam from the source are located axially before or after the bobbin, and a calculating and control unit processes the signal from the receiver. The novel feature is that the ends of the holes (19) lying externally relative to the axis of rotation (A) of the bobbin have a different spacing from the axis (A).
