Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005060817A1] The aim of the invention is to provide a dishwasher that allows for the softening or decarbonization of the water used in the dishwasher for dishwashing processes in an economical manner. For this purpose, the inventive dishwasher is provided with a raw water supply (2), at least one washing container and a raw water conditioning device for softening and/or partially demineralizing (decarbonizing) raw water from the water supply network. Said raw water conditioning device comprises at least one ion exchange container (9) containing an ion exchange material, and a refillable regenerating means container (6). The raw water is supplied to the washing container via the ion exchange container (9). A water dispenser (5) guides the raw water from the raw water supply (2) alternatively to the ion exchange container (9) or to the regenerating means container (6). The inventive dishwasher is advantageous in that the quantity of water required for producing the regeneration brine does not have to be metered out or stocked in a separate regeneration water reservoir, thereby eliminating the need for such a regeneration water reservoir, and entailing a reduction of production costs and requiring less space for the inventive raw water conditioning device.
