[origin: WO2005024659A1] The memory stores binary patterns associated with respective references. Data chains are analysed by successive sections of K bits (K =1) in order to extract one of the references when there is a match between an analysed data chain and a stored binary pattern associated with said reference. The memory is organised into a plurality of successive memory stages, the analysis of the (i+1)-th section of a data chain providing access to a cell of the stage i =0. For N =2, p =1 and N.p, lower than the maximum number of stages, the memory is distributed into N separate memory zones of levels 0 to N-1, each cell of a stage i =0 belonging to the zone of level [i/p], modulo N, where [i/p] designates the quotient of the Euclidian division of i by p. The analyses are carried out by means of a maximum of N parallel modules.
