Said cylinder liner (2) extends from a cylinder head end (6) to an oil chamber end (8) within the cylinder crankcase (4) while being provided with an interior face (10) and an exterior face (14). The invention is characterized in that the cylinder liner (2) is longer along the interior face (10) in an axial direction than on the exterior face (14), at least at one end thereof. The transition from the interior face (10) to the exterior face (14) is embodied in circulatory, concentric steps (22).
