A steam ironing board with an air-permeable ironing surface (16) sealing a trough (14) and a means (29) of producing an air flow through (16), (14) and (29) to the outside when in suction mode (SM) or an air flow from the outside through (29), (14) and (16) when in blowing mode (BM), in which the board is arranged so that the air flows in a first direction parallel to the surface (16) from (14) to (29) when in SM or from (29) to (14) when in BM.
