Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1705964A2] The ballast has a dim device comprising a saw tooth generator (STG) that produces a periodic signal for modulation of lamp current. The periodic signal produced by the generator is supplied to a clamping circuit (CL). The dim device adjusts the lamp current to control brightness of a low-pressure discharge lamp, where an output signal of the generator is synchronized with a phase position of the supply voltage. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling the brightness of a low pressure discharge lamp.
