[origin: FR2864578A1] The engine has an injector (20) for spraying a fuel jet into a combustion chamber along a spraying axis (P), where the jet is diffused at an angle between 15 and 75 degrees. The fuel injection starts when a crankshaft (3) is situated at an angle lying between 20 and 45 degrees before closure of an exhaust port (9). The injection pressure and orientation of the axis are determined based on gas circulation in the chamber. The injection pressure and orientation of the spraying axis are determined to obtain an air/fuel mixture appreciably stoichiometric in the region of a spark plug (11) during ignition.
