[origin: EP1707880A1] An ignition transducer (Zu1) applies an energizing voltage to an ignition electrode (ZE) of a burner. An ion current collection mechanism acquires an ion stream in a combustion chamber of the burner. The existence of a flame causes a shift in the potential of the energizing voltage applied to the ignition electrode, causing a current flow that results to the output of a signal indicating the presence of a flame.
