Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2005068696A1] An elevator belt (20) or rope (25) includes a plurality of tension members (22, 26, 46) encased within a polyurethane jacket (24, 28). Each tension member includes a plurality of strands (42), which are each made up of a plurality of wires (40). During the manufacturing process, broken wire (44, 54) ends are recaptured so that they do not protrude outward from the strands (42) or cords (46). A variety of recapture techniques are disclosed.
