Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2864714A1] The arrestor has a spark gap (2) with an intrinsic follow current interrupting capacity. An improvement unit (5) cooperates with the gap such that the arrestor has a resultant follow current interrupting capacity that is greater than the intrinsic capacity. The unit has a limitation unit (6) to limit intensity of current traversing the gap. The unit (5) has a non-self inductive resistive unit (9) mounted in series with the gap. An independent claim is also included for a method of improving follow current interrupting capacity of a lightning arrestor.
