[origin: EP1710061A1] The method involves guiding narrow side of scattered mat with a side wall, and sealing the side in a device from atmosphere. Water vapor is supplied to the mat on the surface side for preheating the mat. The mat hardening is continuously retracted and the vapor is removed by the mat on the opposite surface side for the guidance of the vapour or applying low pressure and/ or vacuum. The mat is compressed during leakage of the device. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing the method for continuous preheating of a mat or fibrous mat.
