[origin: WO2005071158A1] The invention relates to a method for producing a wood-free coated, matte or semi-matte paper web (1). The paper web (1) is precalendered by means of at least one device (11) for precalendering, coated at least on one side by means of at least one device (12) for applying a liquid or pasty coating medium and then dried by means of at least one device (13) for drying, thereby producing a wood-free coated, matte or semi-matte paper web (1) having a roughness in the range of from 0.8 t 3.9 mu m [PPS] and a gloss in the range of from 3 to 35 % [TAPPI 75 DEG ]. The invention also relates to a system (10) for carrying out the inventive method.
