The present invention provides a hydroxynaphthalenedicarboxylic acid hydrazide dimer or a derivative thereof represented by formula (1): wherein X 1 and X 2 are independently selected from the group consisting of carboxyl group, a group represented by formula (2) and a group represented by formula (3): €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ -CO-NH-Z€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ(2) €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ -CO-NHNH 2 €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ(3) Y 1 and Y 2 are independently selected from the group consisting of carboxyl group, carbamoyl group, a group represented by formula (2), a group represented by formula (3) and a group represented by formula (4): €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ -CO-O-A€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ(4) provided that at least one of X 1 , X 2 , Y 1 and Y 2 is a group represented by formula (3).
