Abstract (en)
The adapter consists of a cylindrical case (2) with an inner diameter more or less the same as the calibre of the shell. The rear end of the case, designed to fit against the gun's breech, is closed by a base (3) containing an initiator (4) for the shell's propellant charge (7), which can be mechanical, electromechanical or pyrotechnic. The case and its base form a sleeve with a combined length more or less equal to that of the gun's firing chamber.
