[origin: WO2005077731A1] The invention concerns a vehicle steering system for motor vehicles, comprising a steering implement, which can be operated by the driver, and comprising an actuating unit, which is assigned to the steered vehicle wheels, is actively connected to the steering implement, and by means of which via optional additional elements, the steered vehicle wheels can be swiveled for setting a desired steering angle. Said actuating unit is a hydraulic unit comprising two hydraulic chambers, which are separated by a hydraulic piston and can be subjected to the action of the pressure of a hydraulic pressure source. The hydraulic unit can be connected via a valve unit to the hydraulic pressure source or to a pressure medium reservoir, and a steering boost can be adjusted by means of the valve unit.
