The support (150) for a heat shield, e.g. at a furnace combustion chamber or flame tube and a gas turbine, has a carrier structure with a mounting section (154) and a shield fixing section (152) with a grip surface (158) to engage a peripheral groove at the heat shield. A projection (162) clamps the heat shield in place.
