[origin: WO2005089573A1] The invention relates to a method for removing tobacco (1) from a tobacco bale (2). The invention also relates to an installation of the tobacco processing industry. The inventive method is carried out by placing the tobacco bale (2) in a container (3) and by introducing a cutter (4), whereby the tobacco (1) is removed from the tobacco bale by means of the cutter (4). The inventive installation comprises a conveying device (10) for conveying the containers (3) provided with tobacco bales (2) and a tobacco removal station (11) in which the tobacco (1) is removed from the tobacco bales (2), wherein a container opening device (12) is provided and wherein a container (3) can be conveyed into and out of the tobacco removal station (11) by means of the conveying device (10).
