Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2005072789A2] Disclosed is a device for removing body fluid from a wound site and that is less likely to clog than known devices. The device includes a fluid container, and may include a drain (to be placed within the wound site), and a conduit for connecting at one end to the drain and connecting at the other end to the fluid container. The fluid container may include at least one inlet passage of a larger size than known container passages used for this purpose and is preferably circular with a diameter greater than 3mm. An additional inlet passage may also be provided, and if multiple inlet passages are provided, they are preferably of different sizes in order to accommodate different sized conduits. The fluid container may also include at least one outlet passage of a larger size to improve draining efficiency. Finally, the container preferably uses valve of a type that prevents undesired fluid flow outward from the container.
